We refer to the Exchange's query dated 10th October 2003 in respect of the following statement "It is also believed that Scomi has called off an earlier proposal to purchase a 44% stake in Intra Oil Services Sdn. Bhd." in the news article entitled "Scomi, Crest in joint venture" appearing in The Star, StarBiz, Page 3, Friday, 10th October 2003.

With reference to the above article, the Company, after due and diligent enquiry with the Board of Directors, wishes to clarify that there have been no new development in relation to its proposed acquisition of cumulatively 47.33% (3,550,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each) of the issued and paid-up share capital of Intra Oil Services Berhad, other than the announcements made on 16th September 2003, 18th September 2003, 22nd September 2003 and 24th September 2003.

10 October 2003, a copy of which is enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence
which is reproduced as follows:-
"It is also believed that Scomi has called off an earlier proposal to purchase
a 44% stake in Intra Oil Services Sdn. Bhd."
