We refer to your query dated 26 February 2001 quoting news article appearing in Bloomberg, on Monday, 26 February 2001 in particular the sentence that reads as follows :
"Idris also plans to buy three more insurers ... EON CMG Life Insurance ..."
We wish to advise that Idris Hydraulic (Malaysia) Berhad ("Idris Hydraulic") has made a preliminary approach to EON to consider the possible merger of EON's 60% owned subsidiary, EON CMG Life Assurance Berhad, with Talasco Insurance Berhad. However, EON has not made any application to Bank Negara Malaysia for approval to commence negotiations with Idris Hydraulic on the matter.
