We refer to KLSE's letter dated 27 February 2001 in relation to the above mentioned article.
Utama Banking Group Berhad (UBG) wishes to advise that it is not in a position to comment on the statement "Sarawak-Based Bank Utama may be given anchor bank status if it can fulfil the criteria set by Bank Negara", made by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as appeared in the Business Times on 27 February 2001. However, should there be any development on our status, UBG will make the appropriate announcement accordingly.

We refer to the above article appearing in The Business Times , Companies and
Markets Section, cover page, on Tuesday, 27 February 2001, a copy of which is
enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence,
which is
reproduced as follows:-
"SARAWAK-BASED Bank Utama Bhd may be given anchor bank status if it can fulfil
the criteria
set by Bank Negara..."
