We wish to advise that we have not received any proposals in respect of Tronoh becoming a target for backdoor listing for Great Eastern Life Assurance. The Chairman of Tronoh at its AGM on 5 May 2000 has also deny this speculation to the writer of the newspaper, Sin Chew Jit Poh.

Sin Chew Jit Poh newspaper on 6 May 2000, a copy of which is enclosed for your
reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence
which states that
