Qualifications | Encik Ariffin bin Alias had his primary education in Jasin Malacca and his secondary education in Bagan Serai and Ipoh Perak. He went to the University of Singapore and obtained his LL.B. (Hons) degree in 1971. |
Working experience and occupation | He then joined the Judicial and legal Service and served in various capacities as Magistrate, Deputy Public Prosecutor, Assistant Registrar of the High Court, President Sessions Court and lastly as Deputy Treasury Solicitor in the Ministry of Finance. He left in April 1983 and joined Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad initially as Company Secretary and Director Legal Affairs. In September 1985 he became the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer until he left in August 1997. While at MISC he attended the Advance Management Programme at Harvard Business School, Cambridge Massachusetts USA and also became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport. Presently he is a Partner at the legal firm Messrs Ariffin Raj DeSilva. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Affin Investment Bank and is the Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee and a member of the Audit Committee, the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Credit Review Committee fo the Bank. |
