ABOUT THE PROJECT

  • The Jurong Region Line (JRL) is Singapore's seventh MRT line, serving both existing and future development in the western part of Singapore. It will significantly improve connectivity of the region and support the development of the Jurong area, which is set to be the largest commercial hub outside the Central Business District. Commuters can expect to be connected to key activity nodes in Jurong, such as the Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

  • The JRL will put 60,000 more households in Jurong within a 10-minute walk from a train station. With three interchange stations bringing more connectivity to the existing rail network, commuters will enjoy more alternative routes of travel.

  • The 24-kilometre (15 mi) JRL will serve 24 stations in Jurong and the west of Singapore with 3 interchanges - Boon Lay, Choa Chu Kang and Jurong East.

MIGITATION MEASURES

Permanent Noise Barrier

Permanent Noise / Sound Control Barriers (PNCBs) are specially designed panels / acoustic walls which have the capability to block the direction of sound waves from traveling far distances or by absorbing sound waves to significantly reduce echo and reverberation.

Inflatable Noise / Sound Control Barrier (INCB)

Inflatable Noise / Sound Control Barrier (INCB) is a specially designed type of noise barrier which is operated by pumping air inside from a blower while still retain the capability to block the direction of sound waves from travelling far distances or by absorbing sound waves to significantly reduce echo and reverberation.

Noise Control Barriers

Noise Control Barriers are panels or acoustic walls made of specialised absorptive materials, together with solid mediums. A noise barrier is able to attain both absorptive and reflective characteristics.

When installed near noise sources, Sound Control Barrier absorbs and reflects noise, helping to prevent significant amounts of noise from escaping to unwanted areas.

Noise Meters

Permanent Noise Monitoring provides a continuous tracking of the noise levels generated by the construction activities for the entire duration of the project.

Ad-hoc Noise Monitoring is carried out whenever work progresses into the night, weekends or during noisy operations. Once noise levels are approaching permissible limits, additional measures will then be adopted to reduce the disturbance.

WITHIN WORK ZONE

Paved wash bay for clearing of soil from all vehicle's tyres and under carriages before exiting the site.

Washing the public roads immediately when it was soiled.

Silty water is treated before discharging into PUB drain.

DEMOLITION /HACKING WORKS

Spraying water onto the demolished debris to prevent dust flying.

OTHERS

Lorries carrying sand, debris or other materials likely to generate dust are fully covered with canvas before leaving the site.

Water to be sprayed over site grounds liable to produce dust during dry weathers.

VIBRATION MONITORING SYSTEM (MANUAL & REAL-TIME)

Ground borne vibrations from sources such as construction/excavation works, piling, machinery or road/rail traffic can be a source of concern for occupants of building in the vicinity.

The monitoring system assess the effect of the imposed vibration on the building structure to ascertain whether damage could occur.

KEY STAKEHOLDERS

Overview presentation of the Contract J107 with the expected changes to the environment and also listing of the planned schedule of construction works.

This was done at the beginning of the project in 2021 where the briefing was conducted to groups separately, comprising of the School, Grassroots Groups, Government Bodies and Agencies, and Commercial Entity.

RESIDENTS

E-Townhall session was organized with the help of Resident' Committees and Advisors to reach out to the nearby residents of the project to introduce the Project and also to address their concerns and queries.

PROJECT INFORMATION CENTRE

In collaboration with LTA’s J107 Project Team and Community Partnership Team, fabrication of the Contract J107 Project Information Panel and the 2 MRT 3D physical model were created for display in the Project Information Centre (PIC) situated behind the Boon Lay MRT Station..

The centre provides the overall information of all the contracts in Jurong Region Line C1.
