In respect of the above article, the Board of Directors of the Company wish to inform and clarify that:-
(i) The Company have no knowledge of any reasons to account for the increase of 2.7 percent of PUB share price on 4 October 2000; and
(ii) The Company did not express interest in taking over KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Berhad.

We refer to the above news article appearing in Business Times, Companies &
Markets Section, page 13, on Thursday, 5 October 2000, a copy of which is
enclosed for your reference.
In particular, we would like to draw your attention to the underlined sentence,
which is reproduced as follows:-
"... the share prices of cash-rich Prime Utilities rose 2.7 per cent to RM1.50
yesterday after expressing interest in taking over KFC Holdings."
